Referral!!

It is with joy in our hearts, that Karl and I announce the referral of our baby boy Tae Yang Kim. Tae was born on August 16, 2009. Tae weighed 9 pounds when he was born, and was up to 17 pounds at his four month check-up.
When I saw our SW's phone number on the caller id, I just thought she was calling to check in one last time. She sounded really happy and excited. I asked her how she was and she said she was feeling a little"nutty". It was a that moment(why I don't know) but I knew right then why she was calling. It was then that she said that she had a beautiful little boy for us. At first I couldn't hear anything she was saying because my heart was pounding so loudly.. I thought I was having a heart attack. Once I caught my breath, I asked if I could come to her office right them and pick up the paperwork, but she said no, I will get the original documents in the mail tomorrow. She did say that she had scanned copies of the pictures and the documents and would email them to me. I was so nervous, I couldn't even remember my email address!!
Our SW Jennifer went on tell me about the birth mother and father. The birth mom was a college grad that majored in catering. The dad had a HS Diploma. They worked at the same factory, that is how they met. When his birth mother found out that she was pregnant, she ended the relationship not wanting the father to have to bear the burden of raising a child.
The birth mother checked into Esther's House on 8/15/09 and gave birth to Tae the next day. The birtg mom did name her son. Tae means"great sun" in Korean.
Once I got off the phone with Jennifer, I think my co-workers already knew what was happening. I gave them a brief run down on what had happened and then I ran out of the room to find my good friends and co-workers that have stood by me through this from the very begining. I wanted to tell them in person so they would know how much I appreciate them and all that they have done for Karl and I. We are forever in your debt.
Then I ran back to my desk to look for Jennifer's email and there it was. I saw Tae for the very first time. It was love at first sight! I forwarded the emails to Karl with a note that said, "I hope you can open the attachments, because now you are a dad!"
By the time I got the emails read and forwarded on, it was almost 5:30. My boss Alan was nice enough to save all of the photos and documents on to one of those zip drive thingys. So I left work and called my mom from the parking lot, trying to play it cool.. I asked her where she was and about her day. Then I told her the social worker called. I could tell she thought it was something bad, just by the tone of her voice. Then I let her off her off the hook and told her the good news. She just started screaming, not really saying any words, just screaming.. So then I told her the story about the phone call.. I told her I would meet up with her, my dad and my brothers later to tell them the good news in person. Well it seems the cat was out of the bag by time I got there. My brothers, sister in law and nephews tried to act surprised, but I know they new. So we all looked at the pictures and read all of the documents..
I've been on the phone for several hours calling my in-laws, relatives and friends. I've finally gotten the pictures on Facebook.
I finally heard from Karl and he wanted to make sure that the pictures were from our referral and not someone else's! I assured him that the little boy in the pictures was our Spencer Tae Seghorn..
So now I am tired and going to bed. I'll be up bright and early tomorrow looking for the mailman!
Its so hard to believe that all of this started 16 months ago today.
